The Creative Works of Byron Glick

Books

Looking for change, Sara Chance moves across the country. Changes come, some exhilarating, some, not so much. Tangled in her present is a turbulent family history, a less than nurturing romantic life, and the love and affection of a sweet, fierce Aunt. Taking some of that fierce spirit, Sara works to untangle all the pieces, building a clearer foundation to become the kind of person she wants to be, with the kind of relationships she wants to have. What Time Does Not Dissolve is a story of emotional inheritance and human frailties and, ultimately, our ability to transcend those to something more meaningful and permanent.

Dean Alexander is a second generation Northerner in the Deep South. Enrolling at the local university, he finds himself thrown in with another expatriate of a different stripe, Emerson Kirk. Together they begin building their own sense of place in the South, part family, part aspiration, and part denial. When Emerson proves unable to sustain that world, Dean is finally forced out on his own, accountable for the worlds he creates.

Finding our Way Home
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum in Pictures and Poetry
Michele Gast & Byron Glick

Neither of us was born in Madison, Wisconsin, home of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum. We’re transplants, expats from other locales. Without intent, we’ve spent almost all of our years in Madison, living in proximity to the Arboretum, with houses or apartments in the neighborhoods adjoining it or taking regular walks along its paths or through Longenecker Gardens.

With all that time in situ we shouldn’t have been surprised that the Arboretum would assume a more central position in our lives, would become a central part of our sense of Madison as our home.
